Another term you may hear associated with group health insurance is PPO. A PPO, or preferred provider organization, is similar to an HMO with fewer restrictions.

Some companies pay the full amount for their employees' healthcare plans while others charge employees a certain amount. This amount is usually deducted from each paycheck automatically if the employee has decided to sign up for health coverage.
